The Bell Restoration Fund is an important part of the Society’s work in supporting ringing in our area. Any Society tower can apply for a grant towards a percentage of the cost of maintenance, overhaul or augmentation work to bells, fittings, frames etc. The fund can also make a contribution to other works, such as the installation of sound control, or for training aids, such as simulators.  Recent work supported by the fund  include:

  • Donation of a bell to the Whittington augmentation project

  • Donation of a bell to the Blakenhall Heath augmentation project

  • Pelsall refurbishment work

  • Wednesbury refurbishment work

  • Tamworth ringing simulator

Grants from the fund are awarded at the discretion of the committee and any applications should be forwarded to the Secretary. Please ensure all estimates, receipts and invoices are available to ensure prompt payment. The Society may also request that the Bell Advisor inspects the work, upon completion.

Donations

Annual Society subscriptions by members include a £1 donation to the fund and membership of the 100 Club is another way of helping to raise money. If you would  like to make a separate donation to the fund, this would be very welcome - please make cheques payable to LAWASCR and send them to:

To make your donation tax efficient, please consider completing a Gift Aid Declaration and including it with your donation. These forms can be downloaded here and a copy is also included at the back of the Annual Report.

Bell Advisor

John Mulvey is the Society Bell Advisor and can be called upon to inspect bells in Society towers and produce a written and/or verbal report on the condition of any installation, including recommendations for work, needing to be done. John can be contacted by email using: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Society Rope Bank

Bell ropes are expensive items and orders for new ropes can take a long time to be fulfilled. The Society operates a rope bank which aims to recycle old ropes by splicing in new tail ends and/or sallies. Andrew Ogden is kindly providing this service to the Society and is keen to obtain old ropes for recycling, as well as requests for recycled ropes.

If your tower receives a rope from the Rope Bank, all we ask is that you make a small donation to the Bell Restoration Fund.

If your tower would like to make a deposit or withdrawal from the Rope Bank, please contact Andrew by phoning 07970 389590
